| Palomar Airport, located in North San Diego County is one of the favorite destinations for many pilots and non-pilots. It's not unusual to see multi-million dollar jets standing ready for takeoff at this air field. Executive and corporate jets belonging to Nike, Calloway Golf, Upper Deck, and local professional ball team owners are a few examples of aircraft routinely zooming in and out of Palomar Airport. |

Executive aircraft are served by
Western Flight and Cinema Air, both of which offer many perks to pilots and their charges. The Airport is also served by United Airlines making destinations far more accessible to those of us residing in North County. San Diego's International Airport at Lindbergh Field also provides major air services to San Diego.

Recently, changes have been made to the runway safety area.
The renovation was part of an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration allowing expanded
commuter service for the airport. The project included extending the runway east to meet the FAA-required
600 feet of safety overrun at the west end and 200 feet was also added to the east end.
Construction did not extend nor shorten the length of the 4,600 foot runway as it was only the landing strip that was
reconfigured. Additionally, as part of the $16 million renovation, a 20 thousand square foot, two-story terminal and multi-level parking structure are tentatively planned for the near future. |
