Ready For That Second, Third or Fourth Home?

Until about ten years ago, the residential single family homes, condos and apartments in Mission Beach were generally old and tired. That's about the time that Ken Cornell and his wife, Beth Molasky-Cornell visited Mission Beach. Ken is an experienced real estate developer and Beth was raised in a real estate development family. They characterized Mission Beach as "Southern California's Hidden Treasure". Ken and Beth saw the potential and decided to make some needed changes. They built their family home in North Mission on the Board Walk and have continued by purchasing parcels of land, tearing down the old structures or doing a complete rebuild on those worth saving.

Other developer/builders have since joined in and Mission Beach is now full of new luxury home construction and the word is out. Out-of-towners are now asking for this small pristine beach by name! The Cornell mission statement is "Changing the Face of Mission Beach One Home at a Time".

The community of Mission Beach differs from other Southern California beaches because it is a relaxed place to visit with no need to primp before heading to the beach, shopping or dining. The beach population is less than other beach communities due to the fact that Mission Beach is located on a peninsula and only a limited number of residents call it home.

Mission Beach is located on a narrow two mile long peninsula with Pacific Beach and La Jolla to the North and downtown San Diego and Point Loma to the South. The Pacific Ocean is on the west and Mission Bay is on the east. There are wide manicured sandy beaches along the ocean with a Board Walk fronting the entire length. This board walk continues along the Bay side frontage and completely around Mission Bay for a total of 12.5 miles of walking, jogging, bilking and skating (beach & bay).

Mission Bay is a 4,800 acre aquatic park dedicated to boating, water skiing, rowing, swimming, biking, walking/jogging, skating and a starting point for sport fishing boats. The boat channel (wide and deep) connect directly to the Pacific Ocean. The Mission Bay Aquatic Center, operated by San Diego State University, offers day camps throughout the summer and year-round aquatic classes for water sports. These programs are available to the public. There are several marinas, luxury hotels, restaurants, boat sales/repair and other services in the park area.

When you tire of water sports there is always the world famous Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Legoland, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Balboa Park with it's museums, The Gas Lamp District, Padre Baseball Stadium (Petco Park)and Charger Football Stadium (Qualcomm Stadium), concerts and theatres are all just minutes away.

Part-time or full-time residents of Mission Beach enjoy all the best that San Diego has to offer. A beach home in M.B is a convenient launching point and quick return home when you go to events and other activities in downtown San Diego.
